A question that women all over the world will be hoping to be asked come this 14 February, Valentine's Day. Traditionally it is the day when lovers express their love for each other with gifts and cards - it is also when there is a surge of babies conceived - hence all those first week November babies out there (me included!)
I Googled for some information (as you do!) about Saint Valentines Day and this is what I found...
The first time Valentine's Day was associated with romantic love was in a poem by Geoffrey Chaucer - Parlement of Foules in 1382 although it was not until 18th century it became fashionable to send cards anonymously when printers started to produce cards commercially. By the 20th century it had become the norm to send flowers and gifts to loved ones. In the 1980's the diamond industry started to promote Valentine's Day as an occasion to give jewellery as a gift making it a good time to propose - seeing as it is already a day of romance, I would imagine this had already been done prior to advertising by a huge diamond manufacturer...
Still, it's a tradition that is celebrated regardless and love can be shown in so many ways on the 364 other days of the year - just make sure you let the ones you love know.
The video today is Train's Marry Me - enjoy!
